EMPLOYMENT REGULATION EXPERTISE
Labor Law and Regulation. We Can Help.
The regulators are coming. At all levels of government, enforcement is being stepped up and business owners are the target. Regardless of their motives, you had better have your paperwork and everything else in order. Avitus Group prepares in advance for these changes and helps each member navigate through.
Employee Lawsuits: The US Department of Labor, which already gets over 40,000 complaints a year, will refer workers who have complaints about their bosses to a toll free number at the American Bar Association, where they can get a lawyer to work on their case on a contingency fee basis.
Avitus Group keeps its members prepared and puts the proper policy, procedure, documentation, and expertise in place. Prevention is the ideal, but when situations arise we are there to find a solution.
Call 1-800-454-2446 and let us help. Got issues already? Don't give up hope. Call right away and tell us the situation. We can often times help or put you in touch with people who can.
Employee Handbooks: You often hear it said that having an outdated Employee Handbook may be more dangerous than having no handbook at all. Frankly neither situation is ideal. The laws change and so does your business. We update your Employee Handbook regularly and the process couldn't be easier. One of our professionals simply asks you some questions and based on your preferences we publish your Employee Handbook.
There are still some businesses out there that have never created an Employee Handbook for whatever reason. If you fall into that category, don't worry. We can build one for you and then even do a Q & A with the employees.
Why is the Employee Handbook so important? Because of the previous topic-Employee Lawsuits. Did you ever talk to the business owner who says "I'll never have an Employee Handbook. It just limits what I can do." To the contrary, as an employer, you actually have the ability to make some policies that work in your favor IF THEY ARE LISTED IN AN EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK. Otherwise, the business falls under the basic State & Federal Laws which are never written in favor of the business owner and are getting worse.
Job Descriptions: It's a fact of life that over time things change and evolve. As an employee works in a position, other duties and responsibilities naturally are added or dropped due to technological or logistical reasons. When you need someone new in that position for whatever reason, you will have no record of their responsibilities and may hire the wrong person to handle the wrong things.
It is important to interview current employees and update their Job Descriptions regularly. Not just for future replacement reasons, but also to find out if things have crept into their duties that really should be handled by someone else that has better expertise or would be more productive.
Transitioning employees is never easy, but it go much smoother with the right tools in place. Our Human Resource staff together with the top HR Attorneys that we keep on retainer can keep you on the right path and prevent oss of profits.
